Organize your Life - Less is More

January is the month of New Year's resolutions, setting goals, and getting refocused.

To me this signals the perfect time to share my morganized version of my 'Top Ten Tips' to...

 No. 1
 Less is More.

I think it is actually fun to buy new things and to look for other pieces to add to my closet, bookshelf, wall, or pantry.  However, each and every time I add one more thing to my home, I have come to the realization that I am adding another thing to my life that I will actually need to maintain.

While I am thick in the middle of having my home packed out for an overseas move, I am convinced that it might be beneficial to move every two years - just to keep the excess under control!  It seems that I keep filling one more garbage sack or moving another load to the recycling can.  It is taking so much of my time and energy.  And, I pride myself in being someone who purges often!  (Keep this in mind as you put away Christmas and start to see Valentine decorations in all of the stores.)

So, how do you live with less?

Only keep what you actually NEED.

Question each and every purchase.

Say 'No' when you need to, without excuse.

Regularly purge your home.

See if you can scale back on what you own.

Follow the one in one out rule!

Join me Tuesdays and Thursdays this month for fabulous information,
that will help you to "Organize your Life," when it comes to your health and home.

Where do you need to have less in your life?

  1. That is my problem...I don't move enough and now I've filled a 2 car garage with junk. Ok not junk but my husband thinks it is. 2 of my goals for this year are to get my MB in order and to get the garage cleared out. My incentive is to get more plants and more for our backyard. I haven't shared the incentive with my husband yet. lol Not because I'm afraid of him but because there have been so much going on during the holidays.

Good luck with your overseas move.

  2. Those sound like great goals! I am sure you will accomplish both, especially as we move away from holidays. Please keep me in the loop, I would love to hear about your progress!

  3. i love the rule number one ie. just keep what you actually need. i have a habit of buying things that I don't really need. and when i came to visit my parent, i always carry more than needed. troublesome, sometime. thanks for sharing this thought.
