Organize your Life - Stop Comparing

No. 8
 Stop Comparing.

If you knock on my door I'll be happy to show you around.  You may find dishes in the sink, all the toilet lids up, beds not made, baskets of laundry floating around and I'll probably be in my yoga pants, cause hey ya never know I might get to do some yoga today...

You would be more than welcome to come in and sit on my couch, careful of the snack cup left between the cushions and most likely a pair of dirty socks.  I would make you something yummy to drink and we would chat.

The only thing I would ask is that you don't judge my homey home.
I will in return NEVER judge your home either.

I read once in a book that we should just walk our friends to our worst room or closet at the beginning of a visit, just to be real.  Wouldn't that be refreshing?

So my challenge - or let's be more positive - my opportunity for us all today is to be more authentic with our homes.  Let's share the good, the bad and the ugly.

How do you Stop Comparing?

Don't hide your ugly in fact maybe even advertise it.
(When you are authentic usually others are more comfortable being authentic too!)

Accept exactly who you are and how God made you.
(See my Shape Styles to better understand your wiring.)

Compliment, compliment, compliment.

Assume the best in others and of yourself.

Don't be your own worst critic.

Find others who have the strengths you lack and vice versa,
it can take a village to run a home too!

When do you find yourself comparing yourself to others?

I am linked up with Kathy at Cornerstone Confessions.

  1. Thanks, I needed those words after reading too many blogs and spending too much time on Pinterest.

  2. I know how you feel it can seem so overwhelming with all of the fun and fancy ideas out there... :)

  3. Agreed! We have a tiny house with five people in it and waaay too much stuff, so I'm always looking at other people's homes (in person and on blogs) wishing and wanting for more space and storage. That's when I remind myself of God's plan for our lives in this season; we wouldn't be able to maintain those lifestyles that I drool over and would be in a worse position than we are now. Good thing I'm not in control here...thanks for the reminder!

  4. Enjoying the season and being content is where God always wants us. Not that it is ever easy, but that is how we grow, right? So good to hear from you, I hope you have a blessed day!

  5. Oh I needed this post. With three kids under 5 living in an 1100 square foot house, it's a mess all the time. I get so nervous of people dropping by because I don't want them to think we're slobs. We aren't. Just living life. :)

Thanks for sharing. I would love for you to visit my house. I would show you my kids' room first: it's the messiest! :)

Sharing this on Facebook & a NEW follower!

    Blessings to you,
    Keri

  6. My husband and I always have an open door policy at our home that anyone can stop by at any time...you just never what state my house is going to be in when you stop by! It's made me more diligent about *attempting* to keep my house at least picked up just for those drop by visitors. We have been blessed so many times by unexpected visitors instead of wait for my house to be perfect to have people over. Most times, people will say that they didn't even notice that my house wasn't 100%. Thanks for a great post!

    1. Aren't we usually hardest on ourselves? So impressed with your attitude and your open door policy, what a gift to those in your life. Blessings!
