This post is a bit direct, which is not really me, generally speaking.
I want to be a voice for the skinny smaller girls out there.
It seems it is OK to tell a person - "you are skinny"
But you would never tell a person - "you are fat"
Here is the problem...when people have told me I am skinny, they are usually not saying it as a true compliment. It is usually said in a negative tone and is coming from a place of comparison.
Like momma said - if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
I have always been on the smaller side.
Thanks to good genes and some deliberate positive life choices.
Either way I accept my body as it is - the parts I like and the parts I don't.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I encourage you to do the same.
And for us all to take the words - fat, skinny, and maybe even...tall and short...
out of our vocabularies!
"Everybody likes a compliment."
Abraham Lincoln

I feel exactly the same :D xoxo from Poland
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be called skinny again. :) I respect what you are saying though.
ReplyDeleteI know what you are saying too...skinny CAN be a compliment. :)
